As I think back, I realize that Liz saw who I could be when it was still an unformed possibility inside my mind. She led me to this true self by asking me questions and encouraging me in a way that incrementally moved me in this new direction and caused me to be uncomfortable with where I was. She always spoke to me as if I already was the future Kim, drawing me out of my safe place and making it no longer where I wanted to be.
I would come away from every interaction having to decide whether I would take the path shown me or retreat. But, her encouragement, her unshakable faith in me made it impossible not to join her in believing in myself too.
